Faculty of Agriculture
The teaching faculty of the university — five departments covering the crop, the pest, the soil, the animal and the household that farms them.
Everything a farm is, split five ways.
The Faculty of Agriculture carries the university's teaching. Its departments deliver the B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons.) curriculum, supervise the practical and field components that run alongside it, and staff the divisions of the research centre — the same people teach the course and run the trials, which is what keeps a lecture current.
The five departments divide the subject the way a farm presents it. Crop Science takes the plant and the ground it stands in, and is itself split into four disciplines. Plant Protection takes what attacks the crop. Animal Science takes livestock. Social Science takes the economics, the household and the extension work. Basic Science carries the chemistry, biology, mathematics and statistics the rest of it rests on.
