Research Centre
The laboratories, plots and divisions where the university's research programme is actually carried out.
Run by the Directorate of Research.
The Research Centre operates under the Directorate of Research — the university's executive office for research, which sets the annual agenda, allocates plots and budget, and reports to the Vice-Chancellor. Where the directorate decides what is studied, the centre is where it is studied.
Its work is organised into divisions that follow the questions rather than the timetable: crop improvement, plant protection, soil and nutrient management, and the social science that asks whether a recommendation is affordable on a two-bigha holding. A trial belongs to a division, runs on an allocated plot for a stated season, and is written up whether or not it worked.
Crop improvement
Varietal evaluation and selection for the soils, water and climate of the Terai.
Plant protection
Pest and disease surveillance, threshold-based management and resistance work.
Soil & nutrient management
Soil testing, organic matter and nutrient recommendations by crop and season.
Agricultural social science
Adoption, cost and market studies — whether a practice is worth a farmer's money.
