Farmer Training

Full courses for working farmers — taught in Nepali and Maithili, with the practical done in the field.

Written for someone who already farms.

Farmer training is the university's main extension course. It assumes the participant already knows their land and their crop, and works on the parts where practice and evidence have drifted apart — seed rate, spacing, fertiliser timing, when a spray is actually needed, what to do with a crop after it is cut.

Courses are held both at the training centre and in the villages, and a group that cannot travel can ask for the course to come to it. Participation is free; where a course runs more than a day, the arrangements are stated in the notice announcing it.
