Undergraduate Program
B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons.) — four years, eight semesters, and a final year spent largely outside the classroom.
A degree that has to end in a field.
The B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons.) is the university's first degree programme and the one it currently enrols for. Eight semesters carry the basic sciences, then the agricultural disciplines — agronomy, horticulture, soil science, plant protection, animal science, agricultural economics and extension — each taught with a laboratory or field component alongside the lectures.
The final year moves the student off the campus: an internship and supervised field work with farmers, cooperatives, agriculture knowledge centres or agri-enterprises, written up and assessed. A graduate who has never diagnosed a problem standing in someone else's crop has not finished this degree.
