Governance
The bodies that decide — the councils, boards and committees through which the university governs itself.
Decisions are taken by bodies; work is done by offices.
Madhesh Agricultural University is governed by a set of statutory bodies constituted under its Act. Each has a defined composition, a defined subject and a defined authority: what one may decide, another may only recommend. The offices of the university — the directorates, the dean's office, the examination controller — carry out what these bodies decide and report back to them.
The division is roughly this: the University Assembly is the supreme body and approves the policy, the plan, the budget and the regulations; the Executive Council prepares those for it and carries out what it decides; the Academic Council settles what is taught and how it is examined; and the faculty and subject boards do the detailed academic work that reaches the Academic Council as a proposal.
Decisions of these bodies that affect students or staff are published as notices, and the university's acts, regulations and directives are collected on the policy pages.
